Analyzing the Sighting in Washington in the year 1984
Howling is a very interesting event that many report. In this sighting, it led to the three men’s discovery of the creature. Howling in primates is very common. They howl to express emotion. From anger, to excitement, primates vocalize to express their mental and physical state. All over America, awkward screeches are heard. It is easy to differentiate a coyote or wolf howl from a primate’s. There is a very different tone, and fluctuation in the types of vocalizations. There have been various recordings of strange howls here in North America. Interestingly enough, they greatly resemble primate vocalizations, like those found in Africa.
This man and his friends were in a wooded area. He said that the creature stared at them, and then lost interest. This occurs frequently in primates. As humans, we have to constantly keep our mind stimulated. For example, instead of watching the same program on television constantly, you want to change it after watching it. The same pattern is found in great apes such as Gorillas. Gorillas, when observed by humans, quickly lose interest in those observing them. So, this animal probably lost the urge to observe the humans. Why? Well, it could be that it had previously had contact with other humans, and had already been familiar with human beings. Or, it probably was hunting. Many causes of its lost in interest could be applicable. From this person’s report, I truly believe that he is telling the truth.
