Expedition in Wharton State Forest in the Pine Barrens
State: New Jersey
County: Burlington
Amount of Time: 4 Hours
Month/Day/Year: August 18, 2008
Background Information: We conducted an expedition in Wharton State Forest in the Pine Barrens. The Pine Barrens consist of 1.1 million acres of forest, swamps, and other valuable wildlife habitat. Its wildlife includes but is not limited to deer, bobcats, giant river otters, lizards, snakes, frogs, and it might be home of something else..The alleged Bigfoot of North America. The area of Wharton State Forest in which we conducted our investigation was primarily abundant in dry acidic sand, pine trees, and many bushes. The Pine Barrens have also had sightings of the alleged Jersey Devil.
Expedition Details: We arrived at Wharton State Forest around 12:30 p.m. We began our walk through the blue trail. Since it is nearly impossible to do an in-depth expedition within the Pine Barrens without getting lost, that is if you do not have the proper equipment, we did indeed take a designated trail. On we walked for about three hours. We caught sight of several frogs, lizards, and we even saw deer tracks. Some other tracks we found resembled those of foxes. As we walked, we did keep our eyes open. The very environment itself was dry, yet somehow, the vegetation was green and lush.
Expedition Results: Unfortunately, we found absolutely no signs of the existence of Bigfoot.
What Do the Results Suggest? Since no signs of Bigfoot were found, if one were to base their results on the very experiment itself, then it would suggest that Bigfoot really does not exist. But when one examines this expedition in depth, there is more than meets the eye. Wharton State Forest comprises of 110,000 acres of forest, swamps, and other wildlife habitat. If Bigfoot does exist, it could simply be in a different area. Searching for it in a patch of forest of 10 acres doesn't necessarily mean you are going to get results, considering that there are 100,000 acres more where it could be hiding. During the day, it is quite hot. The animal could sleep during the day to avoid the intense sun, and since it is presumed hairy, all the more reason to move when it is cooler. Bigfoot expeditions seem to have much better results when done at night, or when cool. Furry or hairy animals in general do the best they can to avoid the heat of day. Also put in mind that any animal, being a cryptid or known animal, will in general try to avoid human contact as much as possible. So, it is safe to say, that the alleged Sasquatch may inhabit the remote forests of the Pine Barrens.
